These were all flagged by "(style) The scope of the variable 'x' can be reduced."
Narowing the scope improves readability, and if it is in a loop then the
compiler will be clever enough to produce efficient code, we do not need
manual optimization for POD types.
Set a validator on QLineEdit widgets. The validator removes any
\n and \r characters, thus preventing users from copy-pasting
newline characters into these fields, and subsequently saving
them, inadvertantly, to their lyx file.

This was no oversight but a security concern. We do not want the LyX document to define arbitrary index and bibtex converters.
