Next to the cmd name, introduce optional latex names (that might differ
from the cmd name) and aliases (that are "obsoleted by" the cmd).
This enhances portability between the engines.
The current char-based implementation gets increasingly unreadable,
especially if styles are added that do not follow the strict
single-double paradigm.
Some headers contain
class Foo;
whereas there is no class Foo.
The list of class statements is given by
classes=`git grep '^\(class\|struct\) [a-zA-Z_:]*;' src | sed 's/^.* \(.*\);/\1/'|sort -u`
The ones that are useless are:
for c in $classes ; do grep -r "\\<$c\\>" src| grep -vq '^[^:]*:\(class\|struct\) [a-zA-Z_:]*;' || echo "$c"; done
Increment LyX format to 504.
With this new parameter, the user can indicate that some other parameters that
are frequently switched must not be recorded in the file (as if they were a
setting specific to the user or transient, rather than a document setting). This
will play nicer with version control systems.
See the discussion, e.g.:
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.editors.lyx.devel/157824/focus=157993 (third
solution mentioned)
TODO:
* The interface remains to be set up. We cannot change this setting from LyX
for now.
* If save_transient_properties is false, we should read the user setting as a
per-user-per-document (session) setting (e.g. like the cursor position).
* Once the above is done, we can treat \justification the same way (but it would
be even better if \justification was moved to lyxrc).
A plausible scenario is that change tracking is used together with a versioning
system. In this case, parallel modifications might remove an \author line on one
side, and add another change of this author on the other side. This scenario
causes a bad merge after which the added change has no associated author. In
this case, LyX used to display a list of errors on opening and deliberately
removed the corresponding change tracking information.
* If ever a tracked change refers to an author that does not exist, then add a
dummy author. This dummy author is not saved to the file afterwards.
* Have a very clear error message on opening such a corrupt file.
This is one part of bug 9744: If you toggle between TeX fonts and non-TeX
fonts, the settings of the other choice are no longer thrown away, but stored
and re-activated if you switch back. Most parts of the patch are purely
mechanical (duplicating some BufferParams members), the only non-mechanical
change is in the GUI logic.
The "save-as" part of the bug is fixed by extending the \textclass tag
such that, if a local layout file is used, its path relative to the
document directory is now stored together with the name. If a relative
path cannot be used, an absolute one is used but, in this case, the
document is not usable on a different platform.
The "copy" part is fixed by introducing a new \origin tag, which is
written when the file is saved. This tag stores the absolute path of
the document directory. If the document is manually copied to a
different location, the local layout file is retrivied by using
\origin (which is only updated on save).
This new tag may prove useful also for locating other files when the
document is manually moved to a different directory.
As in the original implementation the files needed for the layout
(for example, a latex class) had to be in the same directory as the
layout file, this directory has also to be added to TEXINPUTS.
Add display_pixel_ratio to buffer params to use it for displays with high resolution.
It holds the highest ratio between physical pixels and device-independent pixels of the LyX application.
Preview snippets will be generated using this value to get high resolution preview.
These should be used if any new style needs to be introduced in the stable
2.1 series: If the ForceLocal flag of the style is set, it will always be
written to the document header, so that even older 2.1 versions can read
and correctly output the document.
- Use the LyX name of encodings instead of the LaTeX names.
The LyX name must be unique, while the name used by LaTeX
not necessarily, e.g. different packages might implement
support for the same encoding.
- Rename koi8 to koi8-r, so that the LyX and LaTeX names match.
- Rename euc-jp-plain to euc-jp-platex, jis-plain to jis-platex
and shift-jis-plain to shift-jis-platex.
- Add utf8-platex encoding (fixes#8408).
LyX file format incremented to 463.
The fix is basically mechanical, the additional code for fraction like insets
with three arguments was stolen from \unitfrac. As any math package,
stackrel.sty needs a buffer parameter to switch it off.
I also added the two stackrel flavours to the toolbar.
This addresses #6543 by adding an option to prevent fonts such as Palatino and Times to automatically adapt the math font (IOW it lets you load the text font only for a bunch of fonts where this is easily possible).
Furthermore it adds an interface to select a specific math font, which is defined in latexfonts. Currently, this is only euler (the only one I know), but if there are other math-only tex fonts, they can be added easily (but note that this changes the file format).
Non-TeX math fonts are not yet supported. Eventually, unicode-math support can use the existing UI, but this is not on my agenda.

The problem here is that the copy_params() routine in FindAndReplace.cpp
created a new DocumentClass, but it never updated its Buffer to reflect
that new DocumentClass. So its Paragraphs still contained points to the
Layouts in the old DocumentClass which, since ead697d4b6, gets garbage
collected once it is no longer needed. So the Layout doesn't exist, and
we crash.
objects. The problem that led to the leak is that these objects can be held in
memory long after the Buffer that created them is gone, mostly due to their
use in the CutStack. So they were previously held in a storage facility, the
DocumentClassBundle. Unfortunately, they were now being created too often,
especially by cloning. It's not really a leak, because they're accessible, but
we weren't ever destroying them.
This new approach uses a shared_ptr instead.
Thanks to Vincent for pointing out const_pointer_cast.
Add a new layout syntax CiteEngine to define the citation commands
available for a given citation engine.
Also extend the CiteFormat syntax to allow more customization. This
mechanism, previously used to produce bibliography entries in the
citation GUI based on the BibTeX entrytype, is now also used to
produce the textual labels for citation insets in the buffer view.
Thus citation styles are almost completely customizable by modules.
Modules for the basic, jurabib and natbib engines are implemented.
Layout format incremented to 37.

To avoid duplicity, remove natbib_authoryear and natbib_numerical
and replace them by natbib, and keep track of the engine `type'
in the new \cite_engine_type document setting. This will make it
easier to add more citation engines.

I think it will be worth implementing a version of pure HTML output, for
some uses, a la eLyXer.
Note that at present none of this does anything, and there is no UI to
set it. I just want to make sure it's in the file format, in case I do
not get to this before 2.0.

page numbering and the references of the master file are maintained in the included children (bug 1005).
I made this optional since some people use \includeonly to save compilation time, but a proper aux file update
needs a full compilation of the complete master prior to the compilation of the \includeonly master.
Hence, a new buffer param is introduced (file format change).

These are not actually implemented yet, but I wanted to make sure to get
them into the format now, so even if I can't implement them before the

change. I don't expect that to happen, but you never know....

The fileformat change is also needed because of our mistake that we load mhchem since LyX 1.6.4 automatically so that files created with LyX 1.6.4 won't compile under LyX 1.6.3. Now at least all files created or opened with LyX 1.7 can be reverted to the fileformat of LyX 1.6.x and can therefore be read by all LyX 1.6.x versions.

This patch makes sure that there are minimal changes when loading and saving a file with change tracking.
- the authors are assigned a buffer_id, such that when the file is saved, they get the same id,
- the authorlist is sorted according to the buffer_id,
- the buffer_id is written to the file in the author list (file format change)
- the ids start with 1, because 0 is internally reserved for the current Author,
- when writing the file, the current author is assigned an id if he didn't already have it.

available to tex2lyx. The point is to move the crucial routines that
deal with modules out of BufferParams.cpp, which tex2lyx does not have,
and into TextClass.cpp, which it does.
This is all cleanup that makes a lot of sense independently.
Note that LayoutModuleList will shortly become a real class.

and default modules. The lesson, in the end, is that we need to do all the
removal of modules that no longer `fit', for whatever reason, before we
do anything else. So the patch basically just moves the `removal' code
into a new routine that gets called before the routines that add default
modules and then check consistency.

moves existing code into a new routine where we can get at it.
